We honor and remember those who died while serving in the U.S. military on Memorial Day.
APP Colleague would also like to thank healthcare workers for serving the military’s medical forces.
Physician assistants and nurse practitioners play an integral role in the U.S. Military Health System, serving military members, their families, and individuals helped by our military internationally.
Quick facts:
30,000 nurses (including NPs) work in the U.S. military [1].
Nurse practitioners provide primary health care for adults and children in acute and long-term healthcare settings at home and abroad during humanitarian missions [1].
As of 2020, almost 2,000 PAs work in the military reserve [2].
>12,000 PAs report being on active duty, in the reserves, retired, or having veteran status, which accounts for 10% of all certified PAs [2].
We thank you for your service, and we reflect on those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
