Can APPs own a medical practice?

This past Wednesday, three of our office’s fabulous medical assistants were discussing their professional futures at work.  The three of them discussed the pros/cons of going to medical school, PA school, traditional nursing school, and NP programs.

And, of course, I had to stick my nose into the conversation, especially when I overheard the question, “Can PAs and NPs own their own practice?”

We talked about the movement for APP “full practice authority.”  We also talked about how APPs in Michigan, where we don’t yet have full practice authority, have figured out how to legally and legitimately own practices for many years by maintaining affiliation with physician colleagues.

Morgan, Eva, and Jess – today’s post is for you.  Whatever career path each of you chooses, there is nothing but success in your future 🙂
