A 2020 study was published by the University of Washington medical system analyzing seasonal and holiday-related emergency visits.  

Researchers analyzed 24 years of trauma visit data from their three hospitals in the Seattle area.  

 

The top 10 most common 4th of July injuries are:

  1. Firework accidents
  2. Explosive accidents
  3. Non-traffic motor vehicle accidents
  4. Toxic effects from alcohol consumption
  5. 3rd-degree burn involving less than 10% of body surface area
  6. Burns involving less than 10% of body surface area
  7. Burns classified by body surface area
  8. Motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle
  9. Cerebral laceration and soft tissue injury
  10. Unspecified cerebral laceration/contusion without an open wound [1]
